Mozzie Trap Designs
What type of Mozzie trap to buy...There are a couple of main types of Mozzie trap…
1) Chemical lure mozzie traps - can be a simple plastic bottle with a chemical to attract and drown the mozzie.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Messy, Take a lot of time, Have to be refilled and solutions mixed every 2-3 weeks, Ineffective
2) Bug zappers (bug zappa!) - these use light to attract the mozzie and an electrified grid to fry the mozzie.
Pros: Quite effective indoors
Cons: Constant bussing, Loud zapping, Need regular cleaning, Burning insect smell, Short life span
3) Electric water traps - these use a light to lure the mozzie, then air flow traps the insect in water.
Pros: Effective at night, quiet, low power draw
Cons: Need continual cleaning / water adding.
So we now sell a device that combines the best of these features while negating most of the cons!

Wet Traps
Wet traps hold water (or a liquid) in a pan that drowns the mozzie. This water needs to be filled and emptied. They are a little messier than dry traps, though the waste can be used as a fertiliser. An attractant (like octenol) can also be added to the trap liquid making it far more effective.
Dry Traps
Dry traps have a cage or basket that traps the mosquitos. Every week or two this cage must be emptied and cleaned. They do attract more spiders than a wet trap, and sometimes not all of the captured insects are dead when emptying.
Omni Directional Traps
These are the normal
Directional Traps
These are an essential part of a good protection for a house / patio. These traps will attract mozzies from one area, while not attracting more mozzies in from further away.
